I've been in contact with a developer for one of the games (BZflag) and they believe the problem lies with the Intel Graphics HD 4000 on High Sierra (which would explain why there is no issue on the older 2010 MacBook Pro. I also have a 13" MacBook Pro 2010 and it has no problems with these same games on High Sierra. Next I did a clean install of High Sierra and found the same issue again. I went back to Sierra (restore from Time Machine) and the problem was again gone. There were no problems with this laptop on Sierra (10.12.6), only after an upgrade to High Sierra. I have a 13" MacBook Pro mid-2012 (MacBookPro9,2) with 16GB memory, and 1TB SSD, that I upgraded to High Sierra (10.13.2), and found that a couple of games I play are basically unplayable due to the refresh rate and jerkiness of the graphics.
